New Andhra Pradesh cabinet sworn in

Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday inducted 39 ministers into his Cabinet. Of these, 16 are from Telangana, 15 from coastal Andhra and 8 from the Rayalaseema region.

YS Vivekananda Reddy, uncle of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who quit the Congress two days ago, has joined the new ministry. He is the only member of the Legislative Council to be included in the ministry.

The chief minister dropped five former ministers including two Jagan loyalists - Balineni Srinivas Reddy and Pilli Subash Chandra Bose. He has also shown the door to his rival in his native Chittoor district, P Ramachandra Reddy. The other two who could not make into the ministry are Gade Venkata Reddy and Shilpa Mohan Reddy.

 

Eleven of those who were included in the ministry were not part of the Rosaiah Cabinet. Of these, seven have become ministers for the first time.

Community-wise, the new ministry comprises 13 Reddys, 10 BCs, six SCs, three Kapus, two STs and one each from Vaishya, Brahmin, Velama, Kamma and Muslim community. The ministers were administered the oath of office and secrecy at Raj Bhavan by Governor ESL Narasimhan.
