New Governor sworn in

E Srinivasan Lakshmi Narasimhan was on Monday sworn-in as Governor of Andhra Pradesh. He was administered the oath of office by Chief Justice A Ramesh Dave at the Raj Bhavan.

A former Indian Police Service officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, Narasimhan is currently the Governor of Chhattisgarh. He also served as chief of the Intelligence Bureau. He has been given additional charge of the state after Narayan Dutt Tiwari resigned on Saturday citing health grounds.

State chief secretary P Ramakanth Reddy read out the warrant of appointment.

Chief Minister K Rosaiah briefed the Governor about the political crisis triggered by the resignation of 13 ministers as well as over 80 MLAs of all parties hailing from Telanagna and about the prevailing and law and order situation in the state in the wake of the ongoing agitation.

 

Home minister P Sabita Indra Reddy, director general of police RR Girish Kumar and others were also present.
