New hydro power policy ready for cabinet nod

The long-awaited revised hydro power policy is ready for cabinet approval, Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said today.

Shinde was speaking at the launch meet of India Electricity 2007 to be held in September.

The government is trying to attract the private sector with a revised hydro power policy, which is aimed at utilising more than 1,50,000 MW of hydro power potential available in the country.
