The domestic information technology (IT) sector, already facing pressure on the revenue growth and profitability front, is likely to face delays in approval of extensions of visas such as H1B and L1, as the US has further tightened the rules. “As a practical matter, adjudicators have had, and have exercised, this authority all along, even under the previous policy guidance. Still, we recognise that the new guidance could possibly create delays in the approval of extensions of visas that had already been authorised for the highly skilled talent that our member companies sponsor,” Nasscom stated.
