Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi today dedicated Rs 311 crore Dharoi Group Water Supply Scheme to the benefit of 596 villages and 8 urban centres of three North Gujarat districts. With this, the people of Mehsana, Patan and Banaskantha districts will receive Floride-free drinking water.
Later, addressing a large gathering, Modi called for launching a state-wide mass awakening programme for water conservation and its judicious use. The minister said water would be made available from different sources with the help of advanced technological skill. He said Saurashtra and North Gujarat region could prosper if adequate water was available.
Gujarat water supply minister Narottam Patel said under the present scheme, the state government was committed to supply water to all villages.
State finance minister Nitin Patel said the state government had provided water by expeditious implementation of the scheme in a record time.
