Nhava Sheva, Kochi Ports Upgradation To Start By March

The Rs 7,500 crore plan for the development of Nhava Sheva and Kochi ports through public-private partnership is likely to be operationalised by March 2004.

The project forms the first phase of the Rs 80,000-100,000 crore Sagar Mala project announced by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for the development of the maritime sector.

The Sagar Mala programme also includes connecting the major and the minor ports along the coastline with the country
