National Institute of Design (NID), one of the leading design thinking and application institutes of the country, has set up an extension centre of Design Clinic Scheme (DCS) for providing design expertise for the MSME sector of North-Eastern Region.
DCS is located on the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) campus and was inaugurated by Ravi Capoor, secretary and commissioner of industry department.
“The extension centre of DCS will help create the much-needed platform for interacting amongst the micro and small scale industry of the region and the design community,” said Pradyumya Vyas, director of NID.
DCS is a unique and ambitious design intervention programme of the Union ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises, with NID being the nodal agency.
“The primary focus area of the design clinic extension centre would be on design development for the products of the artisans, entrepreneurs and other units and MSME clusters already established by IIE,” said Vyas.
