Niti Aayog has formed a committee to prepare a model contract farming law to enable better price realisation and reduction of post-harvest losses for farmers by connecting them to the food processing industry.

"The committee on model contract farming law will submit its report in 3 months," a senior government official said.

Finance minister Arun Jaitley in his Budget speech had said: "We also propose to integrate farmers who grow fruits and vegetables with agro processing units for better price realisation and reduction of post-harvest losses. A model law on contract farming would, therefore, be prepared and circulated among the states for adoption.
