Press Trsut Of India Kolkata/ Hajipur
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today called for development of agro-based industries in view of abundance of raw materials and said it would greatly benefit farmers and unemployed youths in the state.

"The agro-based industries have vast potential for development in view of abundance of raw materials and allied infrastructure," he told a public meeting after inaugurating a food processing unit in Dayalpur village in Vaishali district. "Not only farmers will get right price of farm produces, but youths will also get employment if agro-based industries develop to its full potential in Bihar," Kumar said.

Stating that 76 per cent of Bihar's population is dependent on agriculture for livelihood, the chief minister said that the state government had formulated an agriculture roadmap to ensure prosperity of farmers by getting them fair price of their produces if agro-based industries came up in large numbers.

Kumar also lauded two IIT graduates for showcasing their enterpreneurship skills by choosing to set up a food processing unit instead of opting for lucrative jobs.
