BJP today said there was no need for any debate over the question of utilisation of wealth found in the vaults of Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple here as it "solely belongs to the Lord."
"The BJP's position is that the temple's deity is a juridical entity and the wealth solely belongs to the Lord. There is no need for any debate on this question," BJP national secretary Muralidhar Reddy said, inaugurating the state committee meeting of the party here.
The wealth at the temple was not generated through any kind of exploitation, war or invasion, but was an offering to the deity by the devotees, he said.
Praising the Travancore royal family for their "sincerity and truthfulness" in protecting the riches for over a century, Reddy said none should be allowed to take away the treasure from the temple.
Reddy, in charge of BJP's organisational affairs in Kerala, said though the party could not make an entry to the Assembly in the last elections, it would continue to raise people's issues outside the legislature.
The BJP leadership was adopting a 'watch and monitor' policy on the party's activities in the state, he said.
