In view of the depredation of the left wing extremists (LWEs) protesting against ‘operation green haunt’, the Orissa government has advised the political leaders, ministers, MLAs, MPs to avoid road journey during odd hours at night in the naxal affected areas.
They have been asked to strictly observe the security guidelines issued by the home department for the purpose. The latest advisory has been issued to all the MPs, MLAs, ministers and senior officers.
The missive comes in the wake of possibility of extremists targeting very important persons (VIPs) and security protected persons during road journey. It could happen by planting explosive devices or ambush attack in dense forests and hilly terrains in the naxal affected areas.
According to a circular issued by the Orissa Special Branch (security wing), the senior political leaders including ministers and senior officers should not attend any unscheduled programme without any prior intimation to concerned SP, range IG and DIG of police.
