Maharashtra Home Minister Jayant Patil today sought to under play his meeting with MNS chief Raj Thackeray, saying there was no discussion on political matters during the meet.

"There was no political discussion during our meeting. I had gone to that area to meet a friend. Raj spotted me and invited me to his house," Patil said.

Patil spent around half an hour at Raj's residence 'Krishna Kunj', adjacent to the sprawling Shivaji Park ground, party sources said. The meeting assumes significance in wake of reports that MNS has fared well in a couple of the 12 seats it contested in Maharashtra.

The minister's meeting with MNS leader whose anti-north Indian stance has led to violence in the past, has generated a lot of discussions in political circles in Maharashtra.
