Non availability of gas increases load shedding in Maharashtra

Strike by the officers and employees of the public sector oil marketing companies has reduced power generation capacity of the state owned Mahagenco and cental government controlled Ratnagiri Gas and Power Pvt. Ltd. (RGPPL) by 1,000 MW which is going to result in the increase load shedding hours in the state.

While RGPPL is generating only 300 MW as against 650 MW, state owned Mahagenco's 650 MW Uran plant has came to complete standstill due to non availability of the gas.

This will result in increase of load shedding by 1.5 hours, informs press release issued by the state owned power distribution utility Mahavitaran from today evening till gas supply resumes.

 

The state is already reeling under power shortage between 4,500 to 5,000 MW resulting in power cuts between three to 12 hours in urban, semi urban and rural areas.
