The UPA's last rail budget during its term will not have many new projects, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad has said.
"This is a vote-on-account. So not many new projects could be taken up," Prasad told reporters here while giving finishing touches to the rail budget.
Refusing to divulge the details, he said, "It (budget) would be discussed tomorrow in Parliament. This will be UPA's last rail budget."
Prasad will present his sixth rail budget tomorrow in Parliament.
After the elections, the new government would present a full budget, he said and quipped, "We are also claimant for forming the new government."
Acknowledging widespread complaints against catering service in trains, Prasad said steps are being taken for its improvement. Instructions have been issued to reduce number of food items and instead provide wholesome food with better quality.
Highlighting achievements of the UPA government, he said N-deal, Bharat Nirman and NREGA are some among others. "We tried to provide relief to all without any discrimination."
On Pakistan's admission that Mumbai terror attack was planned on its soil Lalu said, "It is better late than never."
