The Interim Rail Budget, which will be presented tomorrow, will not have many new projects, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad has said.

“This is a vote-on-account. So not many new projects could be taken up,” Prasad told reporters here while giving finishing touches to the budget. Refusing to divulge the details, he said, “It (budget) will be discussed tomorrow in Parliament. This will be the United Progressive Alliance’s (UPA’s) last rail budget.” Prasad will present his sixth rail budget tomorrow in Parliament. After the elections, the new government would present a full budget, he said, adding, “We are also claimant for forming the new government”.

Acknowledging widespread complaints against catering in trains, Prasad said steps were being taken for improving the service.
