AIADMK (J) general secretary Jayalalitha yesterday said there was nothing wrong in the coming together of all those who were opposed to the DMK rule in Tamil Nadu to fight the government.

In a statement here, she said there are no permanent friends or foes in politics in an obvious reference to her party joining hands with the Janata Party headed by Subramaniam Swamy, a bitter critic of Jayalalitha.

Denying the charges made by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, in his speech at the DMK conference at Salem, that Jayalalitha was a bundle of contradictions, the AIADMK supremo said she never contradicted herself. It was her government which had ruled out talks with the Karnataka government to solve the Cauvery water issue. On the contrary, Karunanidhi had held five rounds of talks with Karnataka.

counterpart on the issue, she said. The former Tamil Nadu chief Minister said, Karunanidhis speech at the conference had only exposed him and claimed that he was afraid of the AIADMK and Janata Party coming together.
