Exporters from Nashik and surrounding areas now will not be required to get Customs clearance from Mumbai as this facility will be made available to them at Nashik by the Nashik Custom House Agents Association (NCHAA). |
This will certainly save time and expense for the exporters. |
"The Sinnar-Ambad-Satpur industrial belt is well developed and many exporting units are based here. About 1,500 containers from Nashik are sent to Mumbai daily for Customs clearance, where a a lot of time is wasted. While there is a Customs office here, the Union government has also proposed an inland container depot too. Nevertheless, industrial units near Nashik have to move their containers to Mumbai for the clearance. Thus we have formed the Nashik Custom House Agents Association to facilitate custom clearance here with the help of the Customs authority and Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC)," said C S Singh, vice-president, NCHAA. |
"The association will exchange common ideas on quick clearance with the Nashik Customs House and look into the operational issues. It will streamline and ease the process in coordination and help from CWC, Customs and port authorities," Singh said. |
"The association will hold seminars to educate business people on various procedural aspects of import-export, new schemes," he said. |
