The BJP and the RSS may have taken an adverse stand on the Indo-US nuclear deal, but an important constituency of these organisations "" overseas Indians or NRIs "" are not happy with it.

NRI organisations like the USINPAC and Overseas Friends of the BJP have been actively campaigning with the RSS and BJP top brass for a more nuanced, if not a changed stance, on the nuclear deal. Some of the RSS' NRI members, in fact, travelled to Nagpur, the saffron organisation's headquarters, in the last couple of months to meet the Sarsanghchalak, K S Sudershan, in order to get him to change the organisation's stance.

RSS and BJP leaders who have visited the US in the last couple of months have also complained to the party high command that they have been besieged by NRI supporters over the anti-nuclear deal stance.
