Infosys Chairman Emeritus N R Narayana Murthy on Monday urged to create an ecosystem which can be easier for job creation and growth of businesses in the country. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the event, Murthy said it is very important for the government to take a quick decision on the various issues of growth and education.
“The government has to do things which will make it easier for businesses to grow, create jobs more easily and make foreign direct investment (FDI) easier.”
When asked about the wish-list for the upcoming budget, the founder of India’s second largest software company said the government can do whatever is needed to accelerate the progress in basic and higher education in the areas of nutrition, health and shelter. Basic education is the critical infrastructure for country’s growth. On foreign universities entering India, he said, “We have to speed up our response to the critical areas, whether it is the entry of foreign universities or the formation of National Science and Engineering Board.”
He also said the government needs to take quick decisions in important areas as it will help to go to the next level.
Earlier, at the opening of the India office of the University of Tokyo, Murthy, a member of the President’s council, University of Tokyo, said Japan is the most innovative country in the world and University of Tokyo is the 7th best in the world and provides opportunities for Indian students to be innovative. The University of Tokyo’s India office will be located in Bangalore and will drive to increase the number of applications from Indian students.
The university will be the liaison for 13 universities and the Japenese government’s G30 study in Japan. Presently, the University of Tokyo has around 35 students doing various courses and with his India office the university plans to attract more students.
The fee for an graduate programme would be around $10,000 for the first year and for second year it would be around $8,000 said a university official.
