National Security Advisor M K Narayanan today briefed new Home Minister P Chidamabaram on the internal security situation in the country in the wake of terror strikes in Mumbai.
"I came to brief the new Home Minister on the situation," Narayanan told reporters here after the meeting.
The NSA apprised Chidambaram about the security scenario and the investigations into the terror strikes in Mumbai which claimed over 180 lives.
Chidambaram was allocated the Home Ministry portfolio yesterday following the resignation of Shivraj Patil, who was under attack for his handling the internal security situation in the country.
Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta had yesterday met Chidambaram and gave him a briefing on the ministry, especially in the current context of tackling the menace of terrorism.
