The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), the Finance Ministry-backed public-private partnership focused on the manpower sector has tied up with Britti Prosikshan, an arm of Technable Solutions to train one lakh youth of West Bengal over a 10-year period.

"The objective of the partnership is to create a skilled workforce by training over one lakh young men and women across West Bengal for better employability," NSDC managing director Dilip Chenoy said.

The training will be provided to retail, banking, financial services and insurance, ITeS (IT enabled services), hospitality, travel and tourism, logistics, transportation and warehousing. Initially the training will be given to about 2000 high-school pass outs in the first year. Later it will be expanded as 78 centres will be set up across the states for the training purpose.

"We are starting with one centre and in phases will increase it to 78 centres across the state," Santanu Bhattacharjee, director of Technable Solutions said, adding, “This is the way we want to contribute our Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's dream of providing employment to 10 lakh youth in this state within the next two years.”

The total cost of the project is likely to be around Rs 1.40 crore of which 75 per cent will be provided by NSDC, while remaining 25 per cent will be funded by Britti Prosiksha.

This is NSDC's second tie-up in the state. Earlier, Globsyn Group had signed a joint venture agreement with NSDC earlier this year for setting up a new company, Globsyn Skills, which will train 3.52 lakh youth in different vocations in the next 10 years.
