The first State visit of US President Barack Obama to India could take place in August or October. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said the dates were being finalised in either of these two months for the significant visit.

Singh was talking to journalists while returning from his eight-day visit to the US and Brazil. However, the exact dates have not been finalised yet, he said.

Earlier, during his meeting with Obama in Washington on Sunday last, Singh told him that India was eagerly looking forward to his visit.

"We are greatly looking forward to this visit," Singh told Obama.

The Prime Minister told Obama that he had "caught the imagination of millions around the world, including the people of India who were anxious to see him soon in our country."
