Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, known to be a highly critical of the present US administration, has said US President Barack Obama's recent trip to India was a "positive sign".

Building economic relationship with India is one of things that he likes about Obama, the Indian-American Governor from Louisiana told the CNN in an interview.

"I think that when he went to India and made a strong relationship with the world's largest democracy, a free market economy. That was a positive sign," Jindal said when asked about to name one thing on which he agrees with Obama.

"I agree with his refusing to bend down to the liberals that asked him to put an artificial - to withdraw artificially before we're done in Afghanistan.

When you look at some of the reforms (Education Secretary) Arne Duncan is trying to do in education, I liked where they started. I'd like to see strong follow through."

"I like where they're headed on charter schools, on accountability in the classrooms, to teacher evaluation, many of the good things we're doing in Louisiana," Jindal said.

Jindal said his Republican Party lost power because it defended spending and corruption it shouldn't have tolerated.

"We need to earn our way back into being the majority party. We need to show the American people we're going to govern differently. Stepping away from earmarks was a symbolic but important first step," he argued.
