US President Barack Obama would meet his Egyptian counterpart Hosni Mubarak at the White House on August 18 to discuss hosts of other issues, including the vexed Middle East peace process.

The two leaders are expected to discuss a wide range of bilateral and regional issues including the crisis in the Middle East, the White House said in a statement.

"The two leaders will discuss the full range of issues of common concern - including Middle East peace, combating extremism and other regional threats, and promoting reform across the Arab world - as well as how to strengthen the bilateral relationship," the White House Press Secretary, Robert Gibbs, said in a statement.

"President Obama will welcome President Mubarak of Egypt to the White House on August 18. The President looks forward to building on his discussions with President Mubarak during his visit to Cairo on June 4," Gibbs said.
