Odisha top among states on Food Act implementation; UP in second place

Goa and Chhattisgarh at the bottom of the pile on implementation of National Food Security Act

Odisha topped the list of states which effectively implemented the National Food Security Act launched in 2013, according to a ranking of states released by the union food ministry.

Uttar Pradesh was second in the list of general category states while Goa and Chhattisgarh were at the bottom of the pile.

The states were ranked on three parameters, which are coverage of NFSA, delivery platform while allocation of food grains such as their movement, and last-mile delivery to Fair Price Shops (FPS) and finally, nutrition initiatives taken by the state department.
