Oil above $60 in Asian trade

Oil prices climbed above the $60 mark in Asian trade today as the market looked ahead to a special OPEC meeting later this week to discuss production cuts, dealers said.

At 8:30 am IST, New York's main contract, light sweet crude for November delivery, was up 23 cents at $60.17 a barrel from $59.94 in US trade.

Brent north sea crude for December added 25 cents at $61.91.
