Oil rises, still below $60/bl in Asian trade

Oil prices gained in Asian trade today ahead of weekly US inventory data and congressional elections, dealers said.

New York's main contract, light sweet crude for December delivery, was up 31 cents at $59.24 per barrel from $58.93 in late US trade today.

Brent north sea crude for December delivery gained 42 cents to $58.90.
