Oil rises to $41.77 at close

Oil price, which declined sharply on the New York Mercantile Exchange yesterday, rose 45 cents today to settle at $41.77 a barrel.

In the metal category, the COMEX gold dipped 90 cents to close at $445.30 an ounce.
