Oil slides below $50

Global crude oil prices faltered further on strong crude oil inventory, with the Nymex U.S. light crude oil for June delivery dropping another $1.91 to settle at $48.54 a barrel, off its intra-day low of $48.30.

The metal segment saw the Comex gold tumble $5.70 to wind up at $422.20 an ounce.
