The petrol pricing strategy of oil marketing companies (OMCs) is likely to be clear in the second fortnight of this month. The oil companies have been consulting each other to decide the periodicity of petrol price revision.

Petroleum Secretary S Sundareshan said the OMCs were having consultations to decide the frequency of price revisions.

“We will meet the companies shortly,” he said. The ministry is likely to hold a meeting after July 15, after fortnightly projections of the pricing are available. Indian Oil Corp Chairman B M Bansal said the company was in consultation with other OMCs to put in place a price revision mechanism in two weeks.

Preferred-time LPG scheme
LPG customers can now decide on ‘a preferred time’ for getting their refills by paying a nominal charge. The extra delivery charge will range from Rs 25 to Rs 50 a cylinder, depending on the time band of preference.

Petroleum Minister Murli Deora today launched the service in Delhi and the national capital region.
