One killed in bomb explosion in Bengaluru

One person was killed in an explosion triggered by an improvised explosive device (IED), in front of a popular restaurant on a busy road in the heart of the city on Sunday.

The blast occurred around 8:30 pm near Coconut Grove, a restaurant on Church Street, close to the fashionable Brigade Road, dotted with bars and restaurants which are teeming with people on weekends.

A man and a woman were hit by the shrapnels and were admitted to a nearby hospital, City Police Commissioner M N Reddi told reporters. The woman succumbed to injuries.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh called up Karnataka Chief Minister S Siddaramaiah and assured him of all help from the Centre.
