Only about 6 per cent of the total Rs 3.92 lakh crore committed in the Global Investors’ Meet (GIM) of Karnataka in June 2010 has come on stream till date.
According to Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh R Nirani, the government had signed MoUs for 389 projects with a committed investment of Rs 3.92 lakh crore and employment generation potential of 735,000 at the event.
Of them, 44 projects with an investment of Rs 21,291 crore generating 24,930 jobs have been implemented till date, he said in reply to an unstarred question from Sarvabhouma Bagali (BJP) in the legislative assembly. In GIM-2012 held in June of that year, MoUs were inked in regard to 751 projects with an investment commitment of Rs 7.20 lakh crore and generation of 1.89 million jobs.
Eighteen projects with an investment of Rs 4,807 crore with 7,671 jobs have been implemented in this regard.
