In the recent reshuffle, at least four new general secretaries have been appointed in the Congress party and, according to sources, all of them are likely to get separate cabins.

However, at 24 Akbar Road, the party headquarters, just one room is getting redone for its new occupant, Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul's room will be next to his mother's office. To accommodate the young Gandhi next to the Congress president, Janardan Dwivedi, a senior general secretary, has voluntarily vacated his office. While Rahul Gandhi occupies Dwivedi's office at Akbar Road, the latter will get space in the front, facing the portico.

On Friday, work was in full swing as four labourers were trying to give the room and its adjacent chamber a fresh, new look. Congress party sources claimed that Rahul Gandhi had asked for a simple room in white paint.

While Sonia prefers to work from home, Congress managers think that the young Gandhi will be a more frequent visitor to the party office. He has already made two visits to 24 Akbar Road after being appointed general secretary.

On Thursday, he had to sit in the party office conference room for a meeting as his room was not ready.
