The Uttar Pradesh government today faced a tough allegation by the principal opposition, Samajwadi Party (SP) that alleged a scam worth Rs 1 lakh crore in the realty-sector deals in Noida and Greater Noida and even demanded a CBI inquiry.
The party demanded that the agency probed all land deals in Noida and Greater Noida between May 2007 and March 2011 and the massive loss to exchequer. SP demanded that a case be registered against Chief Minister Mayawati and ‘corrupt officials’.
According to party, the state government had facilitated sale of valuable swathes of land to big builders at throwaway prices in Noida and Greater Noida under the garb of group housing schemes.
“The Mayawati government is merely benefiting capitalists and plundering the exchequer by selling state-owned property in the name of development,” leader of opposition in the State Assembly Shivpal Singh Yadav said addressing the media here.
He said 162 acre land at the rate of Rs 85,000 per square metre was allotted to Wave Infrastructure in Noida sectors 25 A and 162 by Noida Authority. “Besides, the company was also given no-objection certificate to construct multi-storey buildings.”
“This piece of land is worth about Rs 24,000 crore, which was handed over to Wave for just Rs 7,000 crore,” Yadav said claiming the commission paid in the deal was to the tune of Rs one lakh per square metre, which totalled up to Rs 7,000 crore.
“If the plot was allotted through commercial bidding as per rules, the land would have been sold at the rate of Rs 7-8 lakh per square metre causing loss of Rs 6-7 lakh per square metre to exchequer,” he added.

“Besides, Wave was also given 5,000 acres land along Yamuna Expressway for developing a township,” Yadav said.
