The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Prem Kumar, reserved the order after hearing two days of arguments by Raos counsel, R K Anand, and counsel of former Union minister K K Tewary, controversial godman Chandraswamy and his associate Kailash Nath Aggarwal alias Mamaji.
The CMM also heard the reply by the CBI counsel, C Sahay, in the special trial court set up at the maximum-security Vigyan Bhavan here.
More than 20 senior congress leaders including former Union ministers, S B Chavan, V C Shukla, Pranab Mukherjee, Jagannath Mishra, Bhuvnesh Chaturvedi and Jitendra Prasada were present in the court room throughout the hearing yesterday.
Rao, who arrived ten minutes before the proceedings started at 1000 hrs sat through the two-and-a-half hour hearing. He was wearing an off-white kurta, a white dhoti and a white angavastram.
While Chandraswamy and Mamaji were brought to the Vigyan Bhavan complex at 0930 hrs from Tihar jail, Tewary arrived around 0940 hrs.
The accused are charged with forging certain documents in 1989 with an intent to defame former Prime Minister V P Singh and his son Ajeya Singh.
