Orissa cabinet approved SEZ policy

 Designed on Central guidelines, the state SEZ policy promises exemption of all taxes, levies, stamp duties, registration charges and electricity duty for 20 years for the industrial units coming up in SEZ premises.

 Briefing newsmen on cabinet decision, the state chief secretary PK Mohanty said, in a single window approach to facilitate establishment of industries within SEZ, development commissioners will be posted in each of the SEZs who will be responsible for giving all clearances to the industries including environmental clearance.

 Mohanty said the idea of SEZ is to attract more investment to the state. In addition to direct employment opportunity, SEZs will give boost to service sector in the state, he added and informed that the first phase Paradip SEZ will be located at Duburi.

 The cabinet meeting presided by chief minister Naveen Patnaik also approved the government
