The Orissa government is implementing 10 externally aided projects (EAPs) worth Rs 5,900 crore funded by World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

“At present, 10 EAPs with a total outlay of Rs 5,900 crore are under implementation in the state. The utilization was 93 per cent in 2009-10, 100 per cent in 2010-11 and this fiscal we have achieved 80 per cent till December-end. We are facing some problems for execution of road projects in selection of contractors but are trying to sort out these problems,” said the state Chief Secretary B K Patnaik.

“We are going to submit fresh project proposals to the World Bank and ADB for the 12th Plan under sectors like infrastructure, social sector and livelihood,” he added.

The chief secretary held a meeting with top officials of World Bank and ADB to review the status of EAPs.

Hubert Nove Josserand, operations adviser (India) said, “We are periodically reviewing the status of aided projects. There has been good progress of such projects.”
