For facilitating appointments to the top managerial posts in the government owned Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs), the Orissa government has reconstituted the Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB).
It is now headed by the chief secretary and includes the Development Commissioner (DC). Two experts will be nominated by the chief secretary out of a panel of four experts to be suggested by the concerned administrative department under which these PSEs function, official sources said.
While the secretary in the public enterprises (PE) department is the member-convenor, the secretaries of the concerned administrative departments have been taken as the members of the PSEB. This was earlier headed by the minister in charge of the public enterprises department.
The board will function under the public enterprise department and will select people for top managerial posts in the state owned public enterprises, co-operative enterprises, boards and agencies formed under the special act. This includes posts like directors, company secretaries, general managers and chief general managers (CGMs) among others.
The PSEs keen to fill up posts at the top level will have to intimate the public enterprises (PE) department about their manpower requirement. The PE department will initiate action after receiving the proposal from the concerned department. Sources said, PSEB may draw up and recommend a panel of three suitable candidates in alphabetical order for a post. This list will be submitted to the chief minister for approval.
