Osmania remains tense as students, police clash continues

Students of Osmania University, demanding separate state for Telangana, clashed with the police on the campus for the second day on Friday. The students pelted stones on the police and set fire to a jeep when they were stopped from holding a rally. They also set copies of the Srikrishna Committee report on fire and demanded that the government introduces a Bill in Parliament favouring a separate Telangana state.

Bulk SMS had been doing the rounds that police had fired 300 rounds to bring the crowd under control and more than 70 students were injured. Media was not allowed inside the campus.
