With more and more big industries opting for outsourcing various services, the opportunities for small scale industries (SSI) are increasing, said, Vasundhara Raje, former minister of state for SSI.
Raje was speaking on the sidelines of an interactive session organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). SSI, she pointed out, contributes around 35 per cent of the manufacturing pie and 40 per cent of exports.
According to Raje, government is sensitive to the SSI sector and reforms would continue. However, she added that the areas that need to be worked on are upgradation of technology and availability of credit on easy terms.
