P&G, CRY launch Shiksha campaign

P&G and CRY jointly launched Shiksha, a project which focuses on providing free and quality education to children, in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday. All a consumer needs to do to participate in the campaign is buy any P&G’s products including large packs of Tide, Ariel, Pantene, Rejoice, Vicks Vaporub, Whisper and Gillette Mach 3 Turbo or Papers during April, May and June and lead a child to the path of education, according to a press release. Irrespective of sales, P&G has committed a minimum of Rs 1 crore to Shiksha, which will be allocated to projects focused on enabling the child’s right to education.

 

This is the fifth year of Shiksha. Over the years, it touched over 87,000 children in 432 communities across the country with a donation of over Rs 8 crore.

Shiksha projects include one that work with the state education departments to relook at the existing education policies, create awareness to build more schools with better infrastructure and basic amenities like water, electricity, health, enroll more children into formal schools and promotion of retention in schools.
