Gilani said both Pakistan and Afghanistan were fighting terrorism and that his country had no interest in creating chaos in Kabul.

"Why should Pakistan destabilise Afghanistan? It is in our interest to have a stable Afghanistan. We want stability in the region. We ourselves are a victim of terrorism and extremism," he told on the sidelines of the Group of Eight Developing Islamic nations summit here.

"Maybe there are those who want to destabilise the region and those who are a threat to the world," he added.

Militants rammed an explosives-laden car into the heavily fortified Indian embassy's gates in Kabul yesterday, killing 41 people, including Defence Attache Brigadier R D Mehta and Counsellor Venkateswara Rao.

Kabul has indicated that Pakistan's intelligence could have been involved in the gruesome attack.
