Three-tier panchayat election in Chhattisgarh will be held in three phases from January 28, 2010. With the announcement of election schedule for the panchayat elections, mode code of conduct had come into effect in the state that would restrict the infrastructure and development works for next two months.
State Election Commissioner Shivraj Singh today announced the panchayat election programme. The polling will be held on January 28-31 and February 3, Singh said. The commission had sent election programme to all the district election officers asking to start the process from December 31. The counting of votes would take place soon after each phase of polling, Singh added.
