Panchayat polls not a referendum on industrial policy: CPI(M)

As the party's Central Committee met here today to take stock of the situation in its Bengal bastion, the top leadership of the party made it clear that they don't perceive the panchayat poll verdict as people's opposition to the state government's zealous approach towards industrialisation.

"One can't attribute a single reason for the poll results. Districts where industrialisation has been done in a greater way, have voted us back to power," state Industry Minister and Politburo member Nirupam Sen said.
