The Madhav Godbole-headed energy review committee will submit the second part of its report, broadly dealing with the reforms and restructuring required to bring the Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) out of the red, to the government on July 11.
Godbole confirmed this on Tuesday, while declining to offer any specific information on the report.
He is also working on a report on good governance (as a one man commission) that he said would be submitted to the government towards the end of July.
The energy review committee report is broadly expected to emphasise ways and means to reduce transmission and distribution (T&D) losses suffered by MSEB as a result of which more than 40 per cent of power is wasted.
In addition to the T&D losses, MSEB provides subsidised power at almost negligible rates (45 paise to 85 paise) to 90 per cent of its consumer base of 1.30 crore customers, mainly comprising agriculturists and the handloom and powerloom sectors.
The report is also expected to deal with the issue of rationalising power tariffs in Maharashtra in order to improve the financial condition of the state electricity board.
The unbundling of the MSEB into distinct entities handling the generation, transmission and distribution segments of the electricity board, and privatising the distribution network is also expected to be part of the report.
The report on good governance under the one man commission would offer recommendations to the state government on administrative and policy issue changes required to be brought about in the state machinery.
Downsizing the workforce, policy issues, functioning of the administration and other aspects would be dealt with in this report.
