Parthi Bhatol has been elected as the chairman of Banskantha District Cooperative Milk Producers' Union Ltd for the sixth term in a row. Total 16 directors of Banaskantha Union, which manages Banas dairy, today unanimously elected Bhatol for the top post of Banaskantha union.
"Board of directors have elected me as the chairman of the Banaskantha union," said Parthi Bhatol, who was also elected as the chairman of Rs. 5,200 crore apex milk marketing body-Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) in April 2006.
"The total daily milk procurement by Banaskantha union has reached 24.2 lakh litres and we want to take it to 26 lakh litres per day by mid of January 2006," he added.
Bhatol’s victory has made him a stronger contender for the chairmanship of GCMMF as both BJP and Congress backed directors have elected him unanimously. GCMMF is the apex milk marketing body comprising of 13 member unions.
Each union has certain votes based on its milk procurement. Out of total 549 votes in GCMMF board Banaskantha union has 103 votes, while Mehsana union has the highest votes to the tune of 131.
The election for the post of GCMMF chairman is also due. However, the date for the election is yet to be fixed.
