Patro fears Obama backlash on outsourcing

Even as the international community cheered the victory of Barack Obama in the recent US Presidential elections, the Orissa information technology (IT) minister fears that Obama's victory would impact the outsourcing industry in India and also in Orissa

"As a minister for IT, I am apprehending that Obama's victory will be a problem to the Indian outsourcing industry ", said SN Patro, the Orissa IT and energy minister. He was speaking at the annual function of Anupama Bharat, a vernacular daily, published from Berhampur and Bhubaneswar.

Obama, the President-elect of US is against outsourcing of jobs this policy of Obama may result in many Indian youths working in the IT sector in US losing their jobs, Patro said. The minister pointed out that a sizeable chunk of the Indians engaged in the IT and ITes (information technology enabled services) sectors were from Orissa.

 

He further said that the current economic crisis in the country is the fall out of the economic policies pursued by the Centre and lauded the Orissa government's efforts to improve the economic condition of the state.

"The Orissa government under the leadership of Naveen Patnaik is trying hard to improve the economic condition and the state has attracted the highest investment proposals in the country worth Rs 5 lakh crore.
