PAU gives water saving device to Punjab village

Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, today handed over a laser leveler to a co-operative society of village Sukhanand in district Moga of Punjab.
 
This laser leveler reduces irrigation time, improves water utilisation efficiency and, thereby, increases yields because it helps farmers in better management of irrigation water as also other farm inputs.
 
This costly instrument was procured by the Farm Power and Machinery department of the College of Agricultural Engineering, PAU under a project on "development of new second generation seed drills", funded by CIMMYT, International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre, Mexico City.
 
The instrument was presented to the society by the Director of Extension
 
Education, SS Gill, who said the device proved to "reduce irrigation time, improve water utilization efficiency and, thereby, increase yields."
