Pension funds can invest 5% in equities

The Pension Fund Regulatory Development Authority of India (PFRDA) today allowed pension funds to invest up to 5% of their total portfolio in the equity markets.

An official statement said pension funds could also invest up to 10% of their portfolio in debt instruments or mutual funds.

"Investments in gilt funds would be restricted to 5% of the pension fund's portfolio," the statement added.
