Petition against SEZ dismissed

The Supreme Court has dismissed a special leave petition (SLP) of Shah Kantilal Depar and others challenging the land acquisition procedure of the district collector for Reliance Industries' Jamnagar SEZ.

Earlier, in October 2006, the Gujarat HC had dismissed special civil applications by Shah Kantilal Depar and others against RIL's Jamnagar SEZ.

The Supreme Court has however dismissed the SLP, subject to the rights of compensation to the farmers under provisions such as section 23 and setion 24 of the Land Acquisition Act.
